HMM is actively seeking a Project Engineer to join our Ports & Harbors Southeast Division. In this role, you will be based in our Daphne, Alabama Office, or Jacksonville, Florida Office.
Job Description Under direction of the Senior Project Manager, you will assist in the completion and execution of projects of various sizes. Responsibilities will include:
Maintains liaison with individuals outside the firm.
Reviews and analyzes a variety of engineering data to determine requirements to meet engineering objectives.
Performs non-routine and complex assignments involving responsibility for planning and conducting a complete project or relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more-diverse project.
Developing overall design approaches reviewing project documents for conformity and quality assurance development of techniques and improving design processes and assisting upper level management and staff as a technical specialist.
Calculates cost and determines feasibility of project based on analysis of collected data.
Prepares or directs preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental impact studies, and designs of project.
Other responsibilities may include assisting in proposal generation and fee estimates, preparation of opinions of cost development of written reports, implementation of company objectives and periodic participation and input for strategic planning and improvement of the program through advance of best practices.
Candidate Specification Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering (Civil or Structural).
6-10 years' of design experience with heavy industrial, ports, maritime, material handling areas and related projects along with construction observation and administration experience.
PE designation.
Strong project management, documentation, and technical skills.
Experience using CADD programs, computer analysis programs.
Demonstrated ability to work independently.
Excellent oral and written communication skills will be required for interaction between peers, management, and other design and production staff.
Must be willing to travel to clients and job sites.
